This tour takes place through the protected area of the National Park, we are talking about the Albergaria Forest, classified as a total protection zone, this forest is a true nature sanctuary, with a rich variety of plants and animals, the Albergaria forest is intense contact with nature.
As we walk, the forest takes care of us, it is impossible not to notice the centuries-old oaks, the slopes dense with vegetation and the treetops that protect us from the sun, the silence is only interrupted by the sound of animals and on every corner there is a fountain, a lagoon or a lost waterfall.
The walk is along a Roman path where we can still see ancient landmarks.
At the end of this tour you will have the opportunity to have a picnic overlooking the mountains, ending with a visit to the Campo do Gerês museums.

    Route Description: Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Peneda-Gerês National Park, Portugal’s most preserved jewel. Walk along ancient Roman paths filled with history, where each step unveils traces of a distant past. The route winds through the Mata da Albergaria, one of the most untouched and wild areas of the park, where nature reigns supreme.

    Discover breathtaking landscapes: from crystalline ponds and natural waterfalls to the vast reservoir of Vilarinho das Furnas. At every turn, marvel at Roman milestones that tell stories from the Roman era, while the rich native flora and fauna of Gerês parade around you.

    Take a deep breath and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the majestic mountains, where the pure air and serene environment offer a perfect refuge from the hectic daily life. This tour is not just a hike; it is a profound experience of connecting with nature and history, designed to rejuvenate both body and soul.

    Notes:

    The terrain is varied and you may encounter rocks and uneven roads, so we advise you to bring suitable mountain boots or sneakers, comfortable clothing and hiking poles. Sunscreen and a hat are important even in the coldest months.
